Friday the Breakers traveled to Roanoke for the state homeschool basketball tournament, VHSAA. Our JJV Girls, JJV Boys, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys teams competed and had a great time. Congratulations to all of the athletes and coaches who did a great job.
Boys Varsity came up against some stiff competition winning their first game against the Fairfax Hawks. On Saturday, they lost their second and third games. One of those games was against the Loudoun Patriots, who would go on to win the tournament and become state champions.
The JV and JJV Boys both enjoyed two games of great competition but unfortunately came up short in both games.
As the defending champions, the JJV Girls started off the weekend with a bye and then went on to play two games. After losing the first game, they went on to play and win their second game and take 3rd place in the Girls JJV bracket.
The Varsity Girls played three games this weekend, as well. Each game was very competitive and the girls had to play hard. They won the first game against the Blue Ridge Panthers. Then they played the defending state champions, and number 2 seeded team, State Line Rush. After an incredible game, the girls came out on top and found themselves in the championship game against the number 1 ranked team, the Fairfax Hawks. Wow, what a game! The girls won 59-54 and became this years VHSAA State Champions.
